Meet the Team - Tinashé
Job Title
Impact and Operations Manager
What do you do?
I oversee the workshop, ensuring we have a steady flow of bikes coming in for refurbishment and ready for our youth workshops. I also gather feedback from partners and participants to improve our sessions. Additionally, I’m always on the lookout for potential partners and collaborators to help grow the upCYCLE LDN project.
First bike?
Apollo Mountain Bike
Favourite thing about cycling?
My favourite thing about cycling is how much you can explore in a short amount of time. Whether it's road cycling in the city or countryside, or gravel riding through the woods, you can cover a decent distance just using your legs and lungs while taking in some incredible sights. I got into cycling as a way to socialise with a group of friends. We’ve stuck together, and cycling remains our way of catching up, staying in touch, and keeping relatively fit.
If you could cycle anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Anywhere I haven’t been before. Part of the joy of cycling for me is taking in new scenery and learning about the places I visit.
Best thing about working for upCYCLE?
Seeing young people we’ve worked with out on their bikes it’s living proof that the project works and that there’s a real need for what we do. Another great aspect is how supportive the cycling community is. People are always keen to collaborate, share ideas, and sometimes even execute them together.
Biggest passion outside of cycling?
Art and Design. I’m an obsessive collector of art and crafting materials, memorabilia, and one-of-a-kind curiosities like rare artefacts and volcanic rocks. Paul Smith inspires me, as he blends design and cycling in a unique way.
